3rd Infantry Veteran’s Souvenirs & Personal Items
A while back I bought this little batch of stuff from the Veteran’s family who knew virtually nothing about this Man’s service. Unfortunately, that is all too common. Anyhow, this little group does not look like much, but to me it is local history and a national treasure. Included are some of his records (even his 1940 drivers license), patches, souvenir bracelet from Anzio, a couple of his patches, a German fork & spoon set, Luftwaffe visor cap wreath, his dog tags and best of all (to me anyway) are his DIs or distinctive insignia from his unit the 30th Infantry Regiment. What makes these unusual is they are Italian Made – rare to find in any condition.
